Warning Signs

When to Seek Emergency Eye Care

These symptoms can signal a serious problem with your eye or vision. Getting help fast gives you the best chance of protecting your sight. Call Golden Triangle Eye Center at 662‑729‑8246 or go to an emergency room if you notice any of these.

Sudden Vision Loss or Blurring

A sudden drop in vision or new blurriness can point to a detached retina (when the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye pulls away) or another serious problem. Seek care right away.

Flashes of Light or a Curtain Across Your Vision

Seeing sudden flashes or a dark shadow across part of your vision may mean your retina is tearing or detaching. This is a time-sensitive emergency.

Eye Pain That Does Not Go Away

Ongoing eye pain that does not ease on its own — especially with redness or vision changes — needs a same-day evaluation. Do not ignore persistent eye pain.

Foreign Object Stuck in the Eye

A piece of metal, glass, or debris lodged in the eye can scratch the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye) or cause infection. Do not rub the eye.

Chemical or Liquid Splash in the Eye

Exposure to cleaning products, sprays, or other chemicals can cause serious damage within minutes. Flush the eye right away and call us immediately.

Eye Injury from an Object or Impact

A blow to the eye — from a ball, fall, or other impact — can damage internal eye structures. Even if vision seems okay, get checked the same day.

First-Aid Steps While You Wait for Care

These steps are not a substitute for professional care. Call Golden Triangle Eye Center at 662‑729‑8246 as soon as possible after any eye emergency. If we cannot see you immediately, we will guide you to the right level of care.

  1. Chemical Splash: Rinse Right Away

Hold your eye open and rinse with clean, running water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses before or during rinsing if you can. Call us immediately after rinsing.

  2. Foreign Object: Do Not Rub

Rubbing can drive the object deeper and scratch the cornea. Gently cover the eye with a clean cloth or eye shield and call us. Do not try to remove the object yourself.

  3. Eye Trauma: Apply a Cold Compress Gently

Place a cold, damp cloth lightly over the closed eye to ease swelling. Never press on the eye. Call us right away, especially if vision changes or pain gets worse.

  4. Call Us for Next Steps

Call 662‑729‑8246 as soon as first aid is done. We keep urgent appointment slots open every day. If we cannot see you right away, we will send you to the right place for care.
